Around May of 2021 a new Newsroom replaces the existing News & Events listing on Emerson.com. The new Newsroom incorporates more information beyond the primarily press release driven content present today. The page has an integrated search bar in the hero with jump links to content areas on the page. There is a new top component (C087 - Author and Regression) to highlight recent articles from Corporate , AutoSol, and ComRes. The presentation will be a more modern "Netflix" like look with carousels (C088 - Author and Regression) of different content on the page including: Press Releases, Perspectives, Innovations, and Emerson in the News. While we are not currently planning to feature events, this is a future consideration. Additionally, the carousels will be authored and not fixed like the news page today. Therefore we can highlight any type of content through use of CoreMedia tags and add special carousels if needed.
The existing functionality of News & Events (2016) will be superseded by this, but the functionality of the News & Events and use of News Teasers and Events Teasers will still be available. While not used on Emerson.com going forward, this functionality is currently used on some extended sites for blog content and will continue to be available. A major change from the old News & Events is that you will no longer use News Teasers or Event Teasers to have your content show in the Newsroom. Content will be completely driven by CoreMedia Tags on the Page (or other teasable content) you are sourcing.
The Newsroom will be available on Emerson.com at the same URL previous used for News & Events (https://www.emerson.com/en-us/news). Direct access will still be available in the black utility menu in the top of the header. As before there will not be a Newsroom on other extended sites. Other extended sites may link back to the emerson.com Newsroom in their black utility menu in the site header.
Each locale on emerson.com has its own Newsroom. This means that news and events specific to a locale can be added in that locale and only news and events that are localized from a parent locale will be available in a given locale. The Newsroom layout can be customized on each locale should that be needed.
A new feature of the Newsroom are search capabilities similar to the functionality previously developed for the Support pages. There is a primary SERP driven by the search bar on the Newsroom landing page. Additionally, each category carousel can drive to a SERP page that is pre-filtered to the content of the carousel. Those SERP pages can also have additional CoreMedia components (eg. Perspectives, Innovations).
A new, modern, and improved news experience. The Newsroom provides a wider variety of news and articles in a "Netflix" like design. Integrated search makes filtering content easier than before.
This section gives you an understanding of the defined layouts for authoring news articles and events pages. You will find links to the Online Style Guide references and Content Authors' Guide for instructions on creating the components needed to build your pages.
There are two available components to show news headlines on your pages. You can choose specific articles to display or use tags to select articles dynamically. For nearly all uses you have the C009 available. This is a three across component. A component built specifically for the homepage is C009b and can show up to 6 headlines.
You need news teasers and events teasers (specific CoreMedia document types) to display News and Events in the search results on the News & Events page. This section also covers the options for selecting the timing of when an item appears in the search results and the ability to pin an article to the top of the results for a specific period of time.
