Roxar-Downhole Water Cut Meter

Roxar™ Downhole Water Cut Meter

Product Description

The Downhole Water Cut Meter (DHWCM) provides real time flow imaging within the wellbore by using electrical process tomography technology. The tool utilizes two sets of impedance electrodes to provide the client with water liquid ratio (WLR), water volume fraction (WVF), and bulk mass flow rate measurements. Additionally, the tool can be utilized as a gauge carrier for both dual and end gauges. The DHWCM provides new phase visibility and improved fieldwide utilization of multi-zone and multi-lateral wells. This data is valuable when draining thin zones where gas and water coning could have major detrimental effects.

  • Features

    • The DHWCM is best utilized in situations when draining thin zones where gas and water coning could have major detrimental effects, struggling to allocate flow to branch levels, or identify phase changes in production zones.
    • The meter can be fully integrated as a node on the Roxar Integrated Downhole Network (IDN). It can be run in conjunction with all downhole tools in the Roxar portfolio.
    • The WLR and WVF measurements are taken by calculating the amount of the dissolved water and the electrical properties of the fluid.
    • The tool has two sets of four impedance electrodes. Each electrode can take up to one thousand data points per second. The data from the two sets of probes are cross correlated to produce a bulk velocity measurement.
    • The DHWCM is a nonintrusive full-bore tool. The tool can be easily passed in wireline operations and there are no restrictions in proceeding tubing size
    • The meter is machined to order from a single piece of metal. The metal properties and dimensions are engineered to ensure that the integrity of the DHWCM exceeds the selected casing strength.
    • Each meter is manufactured using EB welding to ensure that there is no potential leak path between the tubing and annulus.
    • The tool can also be utilized as a gauge carrier for both dual and end gauges.
