Emerson and our business units seek to provide transition assistance and post-military job opportunities for veterans. Our Veterans Employee Resource Group, made up of eleven official chapters and more than 850 members, is one channel and platform in which we’re better able to do this. You can hear firsthand from our Veterans Employee Resource Group members.
This tight-knit community of employees raises awareness of the value U.S. military veterans bring to our organization. The group is constantly growing its members and impact. We have also launched a new 11-week fellowship program with Hiring Our Heroes, a nationwide effort to connect veterans, service members, and military spouses with meaningful employment opportunities.
In addition, group members regularly participate in veterans-focused MBA recruiting events at the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, Harvard University and Washington University in St. Louis.
Inside the walls of Emerson, we remain committed to providing the resources and support needed for our Veterans Employee Resource Group to thrive. Outside the walls of Emerson, we are continually looking to contribute to organizations that amplify this group’s impact in our communities. Our recent contribution to Disabled American Veterans (St. Louis), to support free services for veterans and their families in response to COVID-19, is just one example of this commitment in action.
Emerson’s Veteran Employee Resource Group believes in partnering with 501c3 organizations that focus on the benefit to Veterans such as The Gary Sinise Foundation “Soaring Valors” program, Champs Support Dogs and Guitars for Vets to name a few. Additionally, there are guest speakers throughout the year to help provide tools for our Veterans allowing for Post Traumatic Growth and we will continue to help Veterans in this regard.
